Community Garden unveiled at Chineham Shopping

Chineham Shopping has unveiled its vibrant Community Garden ready for the summer holidays. Located in the central area near the bandstand, the area encourages the community to come together – whether it’s eating lunch at one of the picnic benches, or taking part in one of the summer’s free family-friendly events. Shoppers can even become a bee or a butterfly with the help of one of the centre’s fun photo boards which are dotted around the centre.

During the summer holidays, two free events will be held in the space: on Wednesday 31st July families will be invited to design a nature-themed square which will be used to create to a piece of community artwork to go on display throughout the summer, and on Wednesday 14th August shoppers can make their own recycled paper seed bomb & clay pots to take home. Both events will run from 10am-4pm.

The centre have also installed a Chatter bench to help combat loneliness – so anyone who fancies a chat can sit on the bench ready for a natter with another shopper!

Chris Carter, Centre Manager at Chineham Shopping, said, ‘Supporting the local community is absolutely key to us at Chineham Shopping, and we’re thrilled to introduce this welcoming and lively space at the heart of the centre. With the unveiling of the Community Garden, we aim to create a haven where local shoppers and families can come together and enjoy quality time together.’
